About Dr. Rex Farrer
​
Dr. Farrer specializes in the surgical treatment of obesity and its associated medical issues to promote weight loss and improve overall health. He focuses on surgical weight loss procedures including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and single anastomosis duodenal switch. Dr. Farrer also performs revisional weight loss procedures, gallbladder removal, and the surgical management of heartburn and acid reflux.

Dr. Farrer completed a Master of Bioethics degree and attended Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, MO for his medical education. He completed an internship at Mercy St Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, OH, and his General Surgery Residency at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Dr. Farrer also completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at Promedica/University of Toledo in Toledo, OH.

Dr. Farrer uses the most state-of-the-art surgical techniques and procedures, including the DaVinci Robot. He performs surgeries utilizing both laparoscopic and robotic approaches. Dr. Farrer is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS), and the Texas Medical Association.

When he is not seeing patients at Summit Bariatrics or performing surgery, Dr. Farrer enjoys spending time with his wife and five children. Dr. Farrer spends evenings and weekends running his kids to soccer, dance, and theater and engaging in church activities.
